New members

Hastings Rowing Club welcomes new members with or without rowing experience from 14 years upwards. We are a small member-run club and our focus is on competitive rowing. Because of our size, we are looking to develop rowers in the long term rather than supporting those who are looking for an activity for the summer months.

There are plenty of opportunities to progress even if you have never rowed before: from Novice to Junior to Senior and Veteran (if you are older than 40). Please come along to our Wednesday training night 6.30 – 8.00pm to find out more about rowing on the sea.

Once you have decided you want to join the rowing club, please complete a membership form and return it to the Club Treasurer. Membership forms also can be obtained from the Club Captain on novice training nights.
As part of our Water Safety Code we ask that new members can swim for 50 meters in rowing kit and tread water for 5 minutes. More info on this can be found under Water Safety.

To be able to compete in regattas you will have to register with CARA (Coast Amateur Rowing Association). This is involves filling in a form, 2 passport sized photos and a one-off registration fee of £5.00 and sending this off to the Club Captain. You will then get your CARA identification card which you need to have with you at regattas.
